28 December 2012 - 4 January 2013:

For New Years Eve I was lucky enough to spend it in LONDON at Fabric with my friend Hattie. I can honestly say it was the best NYE of my life, if not one of the best nights of my life in general. I had such a good time and could probably spend infinity talking about every detail. Sadly, there are no photos as I did not want to be reliable for losing anything. Since I had already been to London and done the kitschy tourist thing in June, this time was a lot more laid back and easy going, which I prefer. I biked to Brick Lane, ate copious amounts of ethnic food, and drank cider at winter wonderland. I was able to visit (and ice skate at) The Museum of Natural History, which was incredible. I love London so much, and hope to return very soon ;)

Photos: Taken at various locations around the city

22 - 28 December 2012:

I spent Christmas in Porto, Portugal visiting my friend Susana. I met Susana last semester at VIU, so it was great to catch up with her again. The city was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the people were some of the kindest I’ve ever met. I love Venice, but it was great to be somewhere where the only options weren’t pizza or pasta, and I could go out to a club or bar without worrying about it closing at midnight. I can’t say enough nice things about this lovely city, and Portugal is now the 6th country I’ve visited this year. How exciting!

Photos: Hattie and me wandering around Lido

November 24, 2012 -

The original plan was to go to Lido for an afternoon bike ride. However, upon arrival we found out that bike rentals are typically seasonal and none of the shops were open. This led to us wandering around the island, which was still great. The day was unusually foggy, which made everything even better. The island was deserted and had a gloomy charm that I really enjoyed. Another fun moment was when we ran into some Italians on the beach listening to really great disco music.

As an American, the onset of fall automatically makes me think of Thanksgiving. Even though I am in Italy and unable to celebrate the holiday with my family, I still wanted to have a Thanksgiving dinner. Also, it was really fun to cook for my roommates and friends, and introduce them to the holiday.
